auction/raffle produced $625.00 by 52 people in
attendance. By popular vote this money and the amount raised a this months auction/raffle
will be donated to the Bee Lab. As a reminder
any amount is worth 2 times the amount. I
will not be able to tell where we stand until after the State meeting which starts on
November 8th. You still have time to plan a
trip to Galveston , you can even wait till this meeting is over. Also
this meeting is our HONEY tasting contest, bring your honey in an unmarked jar. Even if
you dont win it is a fun evening for everyone. Also
we will be voting on our Beekeeper of the Year award. Three candidates will be nominated.

| President's Letter Well folks, it seems as though the summer is over and we must be sure to be checking our precious commodity and seeing to it that our hives are full of "fat bees" to be sure they will be ready for next spring when the pollen comes back in Feb.- March. If you don't know what fat bees are then you were not at the last meeting when Mr. Counts spoke on the subject. The article was in the American bee journal. I recommend all who have bees read it not just for the feeding procedure, but for the prospective the author gives on what the bees are, (livestock within those boxes). He speaks of not just sugar water but protein needed to give full nutrition for a fat bee. good stuff. I'm sure glad that my weaker hives were combined with others as they seem to doing well and getting heavy with the golden rod blooming. |
